As you may know, the Four Agreements were first introduced by don Miguel Ruiz in his bestselling book called the same, The Four Agreements. Recently he has published a sequel to The Four Agreements called The Fifth Agreement. But why the emphasis on agreements?

I would like to introduce to you the Ultimate Agreement. But, before I do, it will help to understand the four agreements a little more and their history.

Don Miguel is a Toltec. The word Toltec means a man or woman of knowledge. He comes from a lineage of naguals (Toltec masters). His grandfather on his mother’s side was a nagual descended from several generations.

This is important as agreements are a central theme in Toltec wisdom. According to Toltecs, your reality, how you see the world, is determined by the agreements and beliefs you have. What actually ‘is’ may or may not be what you see, hear or perceive. This is why different people, and different cultures may perceive the same exact thing very differently.

I sometimes use the example of Japanese and the Japanese language because I went to graduate school in Japan where I studied Cultural Anthropology and Linguistics. I also speak Japanese so I am familiar with their wonderful culture and language. You have probably heard that it is difficult for a native Japanese to hear the difference between ‘fried rice’ and ‘flied lice’. They simply do not hear the difference between an ‘r’ sound and an ‘l’ sound. Why? Because of an agreement they made.

From the time you are born, the people around you, your parents, siblings and extended family, talk to you, usually in a common language. They all have an agreement that they will communicated with each other in a certain language. The language consists of words. Everyone who speaks the language has an agreement on what the words mean. The word cat is different than the word dog and everyone agrees on this. Words consist of sounds. Everyone who speaks the language agrees on what sounds make up what words. However, someone who speaks a different language doesn’t share the same agreements.

A Japanese speaker, for example, doesn’t agree that the words lice and rice are different. To the Japanese they sound like the same word.

What is most significant about this is that because they have different agreements, they actually hear the exact same sound differently. Their reality of sound is different. Once a child agrees that a certain sounds make up certain words, that have certain meanings, their reality has changed.

This is true for anything in life. Take colors, for example, in traditional Japanese, the word ‘aoi’ meant both green and blue. Point to the blue sky and ask what color it was and the Japanese would say ‘aoi’. Point to a green leaf and ask the color and the answer would be ‘aoi’, the same color. Why? Because Japanese have different agreements on how to divide up the color spectrum. It turns out that blue and green are next to each other on the color spectrum. However, English speakers agree to divide the range into two colors, while Japanese speakers have a different agreement. Traditionally, they saw the same range as one color.

The truth is that there are an infinite number of light frequencies in the range green-blue, but different cultures and speakers of a certain language agree to divide it up in different ways. Most profoundly, once they have agreed to it, they no longer see an infinite number of colors, they see what they agree upon in the language they speak.

Toltecs called the mechanism that determines perception in human beings, the assemblage point. All that is, called the Nagual by Toltecs, consists of an infinite number of rays or frequencies. The assemblage point assembles these into groups enabling us to perceive the group. A group of color frequencies is assembled together into the color group called green and we then perceive green when one of the color frequencies are present.

The assemblage point determines what we perceive to be reality based on our agreements.

Knowing this, Toltecs realized something very significant – by changing your agreements you can change your reality!

An even greater realization by the Toltecs was, however, that if you were able to eliminate all your agreements, you would be able to perceive other realities and other worlds.

It is difficult, if not near impossible to just drop all your agreements. It is easier to replace some of your agreements with agreements that serve you better. Don Miguel Ruiz did so in The Four Agreements. He came up with four powerful little agreements that have the ability to change your life.

He has now come out with the Fifth Agreement, which states, ‘don’t believe anyone, don’t believe me, don’t believe yourself.’ The Fifth Agreement tells us to eliminate our beliefs. Beliefs are a type of agreement we have. Beliefs, particularly limiting beliefs, skew your perception of the world and stops you from reaching your highest potential.

In the next series of posts, I will be talking about the Ultimate Agreement, the agreement that, when followed, can put you on a path of love, abundance, knowingness, wisdom, empowerment and more.

If there were one thing you could do to transform yourself for the better in miraculous ways, and therefore your life, quicker than anything else, what would it be? Would you do it?

What I am speaking about is the power of Intent. What is Intent? Intent is Will plus Desire. When you have a clear, strong desire and you put your unbending will behind it, you have Intent. Will is one of the most fundamental qualities of our Divine Self. When you tap into and develop your Will, you tap into all the power of creation.

Ancient Toltecs knew about the power of Intent (don Miguel Ruiz, author of The Four Agreements comes from a lineage of Toltecs). Cultivating one’s Intent is one of the core practices of the Toltec Path. All successful people have used the power of Intent, whether they know they have or not. All manifesting requires Intent. If you wish to activate the Law of Attraction, one of the best ways to do so is to Intend what you wish to manifest.

So what is the best way to set your Intent? The best time is first thing in the morning. When you set your Intent first thing after waking up, the energy of your Intent creates your day in alignment to your Intent. If you spend just twenty minutes each morning Intending what you desire, they will be the most influential twenty minutes of your life.

Ancient Toltecs understood that your experience of life depends on your perception. One person can perceive something in a positive way, and another person will perceive the same thing in a negative way. The implications of this are profound. If you wish to have a happy, fulfilling life, you must shift your perception.

So how do you shift your perception? Most of you are familiar with don Miguel Ruiz’s book, The Four Agreements. Don Miguel comes from a lineage of Toltec Naguals (masters). Kalyn and I worked with don Miguel before The Four Agreements was published and travelled with him to magical, high energy pyramids built by the Toltecs, places like Teotihuacan in central Mexico. Teotihuacan is one of the five largest pyramid sites in the world and the energy there is incredible.

So what do agreements have to do with perception? Through our conditioning, what Toltecs call domestication, we form agreements with our parents, family, friends, teachers and so on, about what reality is. These agreements determine how we perceive reality.

When I was a graduate student, I had a scholarship and studying cultural anthropology in Japan. It was fascinating to me how anthropologists found that each culture has a different view of reality due to the different conditioning, or what Toltecs call agreements. Did you know, for example, that in Japanese, the color of a blue sky and a green leaf are the same color? The word aoi means both green and blue. Before mass media Japanese actually perceived colors differently than Westerners. Why? Because their culture has different agreements about what the colors are, and that is their reality.

The Toltecs often speak of something they call The Assemblage Point. Toltecs say that the Nagual, or all that is, consists of an infinite number of rays, much like an infinite number of threads or strings. A person’s Assemblage Point ‘assembles’ a part of the rays into that person’s particular reality. One person’s reality may be very different than another person’s reality depending on the agreements they have made and how their Assemblage Point assembles all that is.

What does this mean to you and your reality? You have the power to change your agreements and shift your perception. When you do so you actually change your reality. If you desire an abundance, connected, empowered, love filled life, you have the power to create it by changing your perception!

2012

Part of the wonderful new energies that are coming in strongly now as we approach 2012 is the shift in how time flows. While it has always been true that your point of power is the now moment, as we move more into authenticity and the truth that all that exist is the now moment, you are becoming even more empowered to use the now to transform your past and determine your future.

This is truly liberating as you no longer need to be bound by the past. Your future is no longer determined by the past. By shifting your energy in each now moment you determine what your future is. The key is your energy, and what your energy is activating.
Ancient Toltecs understood that everything begins with our energy and developed powerful tools to become aware of, shift and raise one’s energy. One of the most basic tools is called Stalking Self. Toltecs were not the only ones who use such a tool. Many Buddhist and other Eastern spiritual traditions also had similar techniques to develop one’s awareness of self and one’s patterns. Self Observation and Witnessing are examples.

Why is this important? It is important because if your energy in each now moment is creating your future, you need to know what your energy is and what in self is activating it if you want a better future. As we enter 2012 this becomes more important than ever as your ability to determine your future is becoming more and more empowered.

Observe yourself as often as you can as you go about your day. What is your mood? Is it up or down? Do you have a habitual or chronic emotional tone that you spend most of your time in? What kind of thoughts often repeat in your head. Are they flowing and free, or do the same thoughts repeat over and over again? Your thoughts and emotions determine your energy, which in turn determines what your future will look like.

As we approach 2012, the age old axiom, ‘know Thyself’ is becoming more and more important. By knowing yourself, you know what activates your energy in any given now moment. When you know what is affecting your energy, you can shift it and raise your energy. As you raise your energy you create a higher vibrating future for yourself. This is just one of the ways you can take advantage of the energies of 2012 the ‘end days’ that is referred to by the Mayan Calendar. These energies only come like this once in a lifetime, so why not take full advantage of them.

Ac Tah there are a lot of people who are scared of what will happen in 2012. What would you tell them? How would you tell them to prepare? Because there is a lot of fear.

Well, we truly have so much strength, such an ability to materialize what we think and all our fear, and the fear humanity is creating, can become our reality. If we do nothing, a lot of people want to sit and wait to see what happens in 2012, and I tell people that if we sit and watch, nothing will happen. Things will be the same. The way humanity is now is stressed out and it wears us out. When the world increases it’s energy it automatically increases our sensations, our feelings. The way people live life now, stressed our and high-paced, they will get more stressed out and get more emotionally unstable. Right now people are wearing themselves out, they have gotten lost in themselves and this has impeded their evolution. Humans stopped evolving a long time ago. They are just looking for comfort. But this is based on damaging everything around them. We generate electric energy which is beneficial, it helps us. It illuminates the night, roads, we entertain ourselves, but we don’t realize that behind this benefit we are damaging the earth. In this process of Earth changes, a process of how we understand things, right now people need to compete with other humans to advance. There are a lot of natural methods now, like electric energy to generate energy naturally without harming the earth. Sometimes it depends on a country’s economy. People don’t want to make the change because they are afraid. They are afraid of not having a job, of still earning a paycheck, they are afraid of economic instability, but they don’t realize that fear has a consequence. That consequence isn’t positive. On one hand, I think that in about 13 years humanity will enter into a psychotic state, an emotionally instable state. Anyway, those 13 years will pass. If we do nothing, people will arrive at that time in a very aggressive state, fighting in a primordial state, in a territorial state, wanting to win, wanting to take, wanting to accumulate, being competitive. But if those 13 years are going to pass anyway, we can do something during these Earth changes, and this shift in consciousness is just two or three years away, we can revert our way of thinking, our way of living; I think we could live a more peaceful way.

And evolve, right?

Evolve, affectively. Evolution is practically when we start developing a better living systems, better systems, more natural systems, more inexpensive and higher quality ways of living. Nevertheless, if you are going to develop a new project you need to fight against the emotions of all people, especially people who lead countries or towns. If it isn’t in their consciousness, in their level of perception as to what is best for a town, you automatically need to struggle. There are a lot of inventions in the world that would have changed our world, but they are not utilized because the level of evolution of a lot of people does not allow this shift in consciousness. Nevertheless, my ancestors said that this was a time of the town, of the people, of the knowingness that remains to activate itself in during this time so that people would realize that we don’t need to depend on leaders.

Fortunately, the earth is entering a highly-vibrating state that allows us to know that if I have a guide that is not taking me to a new level of consciousness, a evolutionary level, then I have the opportunity to assume the responsibility, perhaps not to change my religion or philosophy, but to assume the responsibility for my spiritual practice and to begin to create a process of unity.

After all, what I am promoting throughout the country and where ever we are invited, is precisely the unity of philosophies, religions, cultures. People are about to open to multiculturalism. There are people now who have two or three religions, they practice two or three different philosophies, they create a collage of knowingness, which is good because you begin to analyze what works for you and what doesn’t. What you need to leave to aside… People are awakening.

As you said, they then realize what makes them spiritual for themselves, what makes them happy, what brings them harmony. Right?

Yes. I feel that the first thing humanity needs is an energy to help them adapt to the changes that are coming forward in 2012. And this energy needed is an energy, which people now think of as being highly-vibrating, but if we analyze our lives and our environment, the highly-vibrating energy that we can produce is produced by us through happiness. When someone is happy they don’t need rules, laws, that you direct them, that you watch them or tell them what to do. A happy person is in a state of consciousness of sharing, of giving, of releasing conflicts, of eliminating problems, they allow it to be in the past. A happy person can change.

They realize that there is enough of what is needed for everyone, they don’t compete.

Yes, we are entering into the time of spiritual coexistence and not of spiritual competition. We were taught to compete when we were young in school. To want to be the best, but they never told us that competition doesn’t apply to all of life. Humans apply competition to all aspects of their lives. When humans realize that within spirituality there shouldn’t be competition but rather coexistence, in that moment they begin to evolve.

I agree because in that moment, the way they see the world completely changes, how they see themselves, how they see everything.

Yes, we were taught that we should always have the best in life, which is good because this causes us to evolve, but there are also aspects of our lives to which we should always be open to coexistence…
