My First Retreat (To Teo)

My first retreat was with don Miguel around 1997- It was quite the experience from the start. Being as logical, methodical and down to earth as I was, the magic of the journey surprised me just two hours into my 5 day journey.

As I stood on the island of hell at the beginning of Teotihuacan I heard a whisper telling me that I was to have a new name. Now I’m not the sort to go and change my name or to hear the wind speak, so I dismissed it and continued my processes.

I continued to gently walk on this small pyramid, reviewing my life as we were instructed. Then I hear it again and saw the spelling of my new name.

Well, that did it. ‘What am I doing?’ I thought to myself. “Who ignores a message from God, twice!?!”

As my new experience of a Toltec retreat was born, so was my new life – represented by my new name. Nothing has been the same since.
