San Miguel MexicoTop 5 Things To Do In San Miguel de Allende

There are few cities that get to claim magic or enchantment to them. For years i had heard of San Miguel de Allende and it was always spoken of with such high regard I almost didn’t believe it. And then I went and visited San Miguel de Allende myself.

There is actually so much to do, see and experience in San Miguel that you really need to hear about the top experiences you wont want to miss!

  1. San Miguel Rooftop Dining -

In San Miguel the weather is so pleasant most of the year that outdoor dining is a must. After all, not only do most of us relish the warm temperature but we also love the fresh air and the people watching. Of course, the fabulous food is a plus too!

  2. San Miguel Parroquia -

See the main church- In Mexico the main church always has a garden before it which makes this a central hub for people. The church in San Miguel is beautiful – it was built after a church in France and is said to have been created off a postcard-photo that was sent to the architect! This is one of the most inviting and prayer-friendly churches I’ve experienced. The church itself is alive, no doubt.

  3. Sit and enjoy the Jardin -

The garden in front of the church is surround for streets in each direction by great cafes, restaurants and shops. The garden is lined with benches where you’ll enjoy people, a nice, relaxing pace of life and the street vendor’s balloons, toys or purses. Hungry? Grab an ice-cream, a churro or a hot corn-on the cob with the fixings (evenings)!

  4. Visit the Mercado Artesanal artists market-

this market is a must. It has artesanias, local arts and crafts that make great souvenirs, gifts or artistic additions to your home. The market has a variety of things from pewter, ceramics to jewelry and shalls. Part of the market is also an open-air market with fruit stands, veggie stands, flower stands and some even serve some of the best licuados, or smoothies and food.

If you like the beautiful, colorful Mexican pottery or Mexican silver jewelry, you’ll love this market! You get to haggle or be giving about what you buy and you’ll find some unique additions to your home or gifts. (I found my plates and cups here! They are a bit fragile, but they are bright and beautiful)

  5. Have a coffee or margarita at the public library. How many libraries have you been to that offer table service, in the bar/restaurant? Me either! This library is like no other because it is an ex-pat haven, so if you need to hear some English, this is the place. It also has one of the most relaxing, beautiful and refreshing indoor-outdoor gardens. Sitting under the shade of these beautiful trees, hearing birds sing and having an espresso brought to you is the life! The experience is similar to visiting the fountain of youth – you’ll come out feeling better and younger, no doubt!
